The distinction is awarded by vote of players, coaches, clubhouse staff and team fans.
"This is an honor for me. It means a lot that it comes from my teammates, coaches, and the fans. I am truly grateful," expressed Adames after receiving the recognition. Adames arrived at the Giants in the past offseason, signing a contract of US$182 million for seven years, the largest in the history of the franchise and also the largest awarded to a shortstop in the Major Leagues. In his debut season with San Francisco, the native of Santiago has established himself as the team's offensive leader, topping categories such as games played (158), runs scored (93), home runs (29), RBIs (86), walks (80), and stolen bases (12). His 29 home runs represent the highest figure for a right-handed hitter for the Giants since Jeff Kent hit 37 in 2002. The player was also designated in March as the Official Commissioner of the Junior Giants for the Giants Community Fund, reinforcing his bond with the community and the legacy of leadership that he now shares with McCovey. With this award, Willy Adames reaffirms his immediate impact on the organization and opens a new chapter in the history of Dominican baseball in the Major Leagues.
