Washington (EFE).- Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Portuguese national soccer team and player for Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia, dined this Tuesday at the White House with U.S. President Donald Trump, as part of the delegation accompanying Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on his visit to the United States.

During a welcome speech at the dinner, Trump highlighted the presence of the Portuguese superstar and said that his son, Barron, was excited to meet Cristiano Ronaldo in person. Ronaldo, accompanied by his wife Georgina Rodríguez, was not invited to speak but was placed in the front seats at the table in the East Room of the White House.President Trump welcomed the guests by calling the crown prince «a true partner for peace and prosperity» in the world and for peace in the Middle East.
The dinner was delayed because the red carpet placed outside the hall had to be accompanied by a tent due to the heavy rain in Washington D.C. In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo, Trump also received Elon Musk, this being the return of the technology magnate to the White House after his distancing from the Republican president.
