Santo Domingo.— President Luis Abinader, along with the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, presented this Monday the official mascot of the regional event: a hummingbird named “Colí”, which symbolizes the energy, joy, and competitive spirit of the Dominican people.

During the event held at La Semanal con la Prensa, it was highlighted that "Colí represents the speed, elegance, and determination of our athletes, in addition to the color and vitality that characterize the Dominican Republic." Inspired by the barrancolí, an endemic bird of Hispaniola, the mascot also reflects the authenticity, resilience, and Caribbean hospitality, as well as the country's commitment to sustainability and local culture. "Colí" will be the emblem of the sporting and cultural activities of the event, accompanying the athletes and the public in the different venues throughout the celebration.The Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8, 2026, with the estimated participation of more than six thousand athletes from the entire region. With this organization, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its commitment to sport, youth and regional development, consolidating itself as a benchmark of hospitality, capacity and excellence in the Caribbean.
