RD is ready to face Costa Rica in the second date of the Gold Cup

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican team will face its second challenge in the Concacaf Gold Cup 2025 this Wednesday when they clash against Costa Rica at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, starting at 7:00 p.m.. The match belongs to the second day of Group A. The Quisqueyan team fell in their debut 3-2 against Mexico, although they left very good sensations, while the Ticos come from overcoming Suriname 4-3. Dominican Republic arrived in Dallas, Texas, last Sunday to prepare for this match, which is vital for their aspirations of advancing to the next round of this prestigious continental tournament. Prior to the challenge, the Dominican selection had two training sessions to refine the details.

Captain Jean Carlos López, midfielder Heinz Mörschel, and attacker Erick Japa received yellow cards in the previous battle against Mexico, so if they receive another warning, they would miss the next match. "The players are going to have to be very focused on the task they are going to have to do because Costa Rica is also a very strong rival and as we have been saying we want to measure ourselves against these rivals who give us an idea of where we stand," said national coach Marcelo Neveleff.

“Los chicos están muy compenetrados en lo que tienen que hacer y muy comprometidos con la selección, quieren hacer quedar bien al país, a sus familias y a sus amigos. Toca apelar al juego, a la estrategia y al corazón que fue lo que nos llevó a hacer ese partido con México y que lamentablemente no pudimos empatar al final”, agregó.

Dominican Republic will seek a historic victory that allows them to reach the last match of the group stage -vs Suriname on Sunday, June 22- with options to qualify for the quarterfinals and continue achieving unprecedented goals for the national team and for national football. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN 2 and the Disney Plus platform for the Dominican Republic.
