  • 1849: General Pedro Santana lays siege to the city of Santo Domingo and urges President Manuel Jiménez to resign.
  • 1855: A law stipulates that there must be a mayor in each town, village, city or military post, to administer justice.
  • 1861: Spain accepts the re-annexation of Santo Domingo to its domain, promoted by General Pedro Santana.
  • 1924: The Senate approves a constitutional reform that is sent and approved by the Chamber of Deputies.
  • 1962: The government enacts the Income Tax Law.
  • -The Telephone Workers Union (S.T.T.) is established.
  • 1965: Colonel Rafael Fernández Domínguez and others die in "Operation Lazo" while trying to take the National Palace.
