Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader donated his entire annual salary, more than RD$6 million, to 18 foundations and social organizations, reaffirming his commitment to the most vulnerable sectors of the country.
The money donated from June 2024 to June 2025 amounted to a total of RD$6,012,000.00. (6 million 12 thousand pesos).
The contributions were distributed in different categories: community aid, child health, child and youth development, care for the elderly, and support for religious institutions.
The affected locations were: the National District, the provinces of Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago de los Caballeros, and the municipalities of Santo Domingo North and West.
Among the benefited institutions are: Unidos Creciendo en Amor Familiar, INC (FUNCAF) Foundation; Comunidad Cristiana de Santiago, INC; Foundation in Aid of the Elderly of Our Fields; Hogar Escuela Caridad Misionera and the Enmanuel Comprehensive Development Center for Children, INC.
Also, the Angeles de Luna Foundation; SOS Children's Villages Dominican Republic, INC; Congregation Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly San Francisco de Asís Home and the Escuelita Rayo de Sol Foundation.
Similarly, the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation; United Hands for Autism Foundation; Fundasocial Foundation; Operation Smile Foundation; Missionary Footprints Volunteer; Dominican Foundation for Integral Development (FUNDESI); Humanitarian Aid Foundation Faith Hope of San Carlos Fuhuesan; Awakening Smiles Foundation and the Santa Lucia Mártir Parish.
The financial aid was used for the realization of talks, workshops aimed at children, adolescents and women, purchase of land for the construction of churches, construction of centers for the elderly, covered courts and purchase of computers, monitors and printers for computer courses.
Also, assistance for the realization of entrepreneurship workshops aimed at single mothers with limited resources, financial aid for food, clothing, hygiene, preventive and curative health processes and medication, transportation for children to travel to schools and technical-vocational educational insertion of children, adolescents and young people from foundations.
In addition, financial aid for the purchase of uniforms, toys, for the purchase of medications for children attending the Doctor Robert Reid Cabral Children's Hospital and coverage for diagnostic studies and food offered to families and children during their stay at the shelter of the Friends Against Cancer Foundation.
Similarly, financial assistance for the reconstruction of clinics, to rehabilitate children's areas, operation of children with cerebral palsy, for sports tournaments, for surgeries for cleft palate and cleft lip in children at the Padre Billini Hospital and financial aid for the disease prevention program such as Dengue, Malaria, Zyca and Chicungunya.
Each delivery was accompanied by a clear description of the purpose, ensuring that the funds are used transparently and directly in actions with real impact.
This gesture by President Abinader reinforces a leadership style based on closeness, empathy, and a genuine commitment to collective well-being, setting an ethical and human precedent in Dominican public management.
