During his speech to the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), Dominican President Luis Abinader stated that it is time for a woman to assume the secretaryship of the Organization. "In the coming months, the Secretary General of the Organization must be chosen, and it corresponds to Latin America. I am convinced that a woman should hold the position of Secretary General," the president stated before the 193 countries that make up the UN. He highlighted that the United Nations must be transformed and give more openness to dialogue. He said that as a member of the UN, he wants a fairer order where the development of one does not mean the misfortune of another. He pointed out that more spaces should be enabled to talk about global problems, climate change, tariffs, sargassum, among other challenges.
