Santo Domingo Este.- The Association of Builders of Santo Domingo Este (ACOSDE) reported that after reaching an agreement with the mayor's office, it has managed to formalize new construction regulations that will mark a before and after in the urban development of the municipality.
The regulation, which will come into effect next year, will for the first time allow the development of mixed-use buildings, integrating commercial, residential, and office spaces within the same structure. This provision, considered one of the most relevant advances for the city, will pave the way for more modern, efficient projects aligned with current needs for mobility, services, and housing.
This was reported by Riubell Montes De Oca, president of ACOSDE, during a dinner meeting, where authorities, partners, sponsors and special guests gathered, on a night in which, in addition to celebrating Christmas, the advances, challenges and strengths of the guild were highlighted.
The keynote speech was filled with reflection and hope, recalling that 2025 was a year of growth, learning, and resilience. The directive reaffirmed that the will of construction in Santo Domingo Este is to advance and modernize, so they called for the unity of the construction sector.
Among the year's achievements, ACOSDE highlighted the celebration of its first anniversary; financial and technical training to strengthen members in their professional development; and the success of the First Business Congress ACOSDE 2025, under the motto "Vision that builds strategic leadership".
They also highlighted the significant growth in membership, reflecting the sector's confidence in the guild; the creation of a monthly working group with the Mayor's Office of Santo Domingo Este to expedite processes and ensure joint planning of the municipality; and the commitment to establish a one-stop shop for its members, a transformative initiative that is already under development.
Despite the slowdown in sales and lower public spending on infrastructure during the year, ACOSDE highlighted the persistence and strength of the Dominican builder. "We are standing, working and believing. The Dominican builder was born to resist and transform uncertainty into opportunity," Montes De Oca expressed.
One of the highlights of the night was the recognition of the impetus represented by the recent official inauguration of the beginnings of construction of the City Center, the largest private project developed in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. "City Center is not just a project; it's a message. It's a sign that Santo Domingo Este is becoming a new symbol of modernity," they stated. ACOSDE also noted that within this development it will have future spaces to celebrate its activities. "2026 awaits us with new opportunities, with a city that wants to keep growing and that needs us united," concluded the president.
