Santo Domingo. – Dominican boxer Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames will defend his world middleweight title (160 pounds), endorsed by the World Boxing Council (WBC), against American Austin “Ammo” Williams on January 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
For Adames, this will be his third defense as WBC regular champion. The Dominican won the crown on October 8, 2022, when he defeated Mexican Juan Macías Montiel by knockout in three rounds.
Since being crowned world champion, "El Caballo Bronco" has made four defenses in total. The first was as interim champion, when he defeated American Julian Williams by knockout. His first defense as regular monarch was against Terrell Gausha, whom he defeated by unanimous decision. Subsequently, he drew in Saudi Arabia against the British Hamzah Sheeraz, in a fight that many considered favorable to the Dominican.
The Adames vs. Williams clash will be part of the "The Ring 6" card, which will be headlined by the fight between Teófimo López and Shakur Stevenson.
Adames, who hasn't fought since February 2025, has a professional record of 24 wins, 18 by knockout, one draw, and one loss. Austin Williams, for his part, has a record of 19 wins, 13 by way of knockout, and one loss.

Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames is currently the only world boxing champion from the Dominican Republic. For this commitment, he has prepared for three months in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the direction of the experienced Cuban trainer Ismael Salas.
