Santo Domingo. – The communicator Camila García Durán denounced the theft of several belongings sent through a courier service linked to the Uber platform, an event that occurred on December 19th, which, according to her, shows the lack of regulation and control in this type of service in the country.

According to the complaint, a messenger identified as Maicol (Michael) allegedly simulated the delivery of a package containing three new dresses, sent by the communicator's mother, who resides in another city. According to García Durán, the messenger left the package in front of the building, took a photograph as proof of delivery, and then took the bag, marking the shipment as completed.

The communicator called on the authorities and the messaging platform to take measures to guarantee the security of shipments and prevent similar incidents.

García Durán lamented the situation and highlighted the need to strengthen control and supervision mechanisms in messaging services, to protect both senders and recipients of packages in the Dominican Republic.
