Carolina continues tour of works in the National District

Santo Domingo. – Carolina Mejía visited this Wednesday the constructions of the Mar Azul and Sol y Mar parks, in the continuation of the tours of the works that the Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional is developing. This is the follow-up to the works schedule, thanks to which Mejía has delivered 210 parks and plazas in the three circumscriptions of the demarcation, during his administration in the Mayor's Office of the National District. Mejía was accompanied by the Director of Innovation and Projects, Yolanda de la Rosa, who estimated that both parks will be ready in approximately two months. In Mar Azul park, 2,880 square meters are being renovated, where an outdoor gym area and a playground for children will be installed.

“We are in Mar Azul park, in an intervention expected for years by this sector… here there will be a children's area, a gym area, a gazebo with 360 accessibility, two of the four doors also with ramps for people with disabilities, two additional doors with steps”, he detailed during the tour with contractors and collaborators.

The workers are finishing the pruning of the existing trees and the concrete pouring, to then start the gardening work. Similarly, Carolina visited the Sol y Mar park, divided into social, sports and recreational areas for children. "Now in Sol y Mar, a 3x1: social area, recreational area with park and bathrooms, and children's area", said the mayor.

Currently, the workers are repairing the basketball and volleyball court, prior to the placement of the fence. Spontaneously, a representative from the Nana Children's Educational Center approached the mayor to thank her for taking into account the community's request when intervening in the park. An act that was equally appreciated by Carolina. These supervisory works are added to the tour carried out last week in the Núñez de Cáceres park, which is being intervened with the Popular Bank. The remodeling will include a new children's area, skate park, climbing wall, trails and other amenities. Recently, Carolina Mejía was also with the Organizing Committee of the Santo Domingo 2026 Pan American and Caribbean Games, where the good pace at which various works of the Malecón Deportivo and Paseo 30 de Mayo are advancing could be verified, including the skating rink, the skate park and the courts that will be part of the sporting event that in this edition will be 100 years old.
