COD Women and Sport Commission delivers workshop Equity in Sport

Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), through the Women and Sports Commission, held the course-workshop Equity in Sports this weekend, aimed at sports leaders in the country, which took place at the Olympic Hostel. Around 40 leaders from the sports unions of Santo Domingo, Montecristi, Hato Mayor, and Sánchez Ramírez participated in the training, held between Friday and Saturday, which was sponsored by Panam Sports, through the support of the Olympic Solidarity program. The objective of the Equity in Sports workshop is to promote greater participation of women in the sports movement, as well as to guide that their rights are respected.

"This workshop became an exchange of ideas between the presenters and the participants. It was very emotional to see the way in which the participants embraced each topic discussed. We felt very satisfied with the dynamics that existed," indicated the immortal Dulce María Piña, director of the Women and Sport Commission. The former judoka highlighted the fact that on this occasion, sports leaders from Montecristi, Hato Mayor, and Sánchez Ramírez participated for the first time. Likewise, members of the Sports Department of the Dominican Republic Air Force were present. Within the topics developed were Education and Transition, Emotional Intelligence, Women and Men in Sports, Leadership and Teamwork, Gender Violence, Olympic Values, Women and Physical Activity, as well as other topics. As facilitators were the athletes Luisito Pie, Camil Domínguez, Gina Mambrú, the immortal Rubel Salomón and Ana Montilla. Likewise, the speakers were Dr. Lisette Sánchez, journalist Nathanael Pérez Neró, Erick Solano, Teresa Gerónimo and Gisela Fernández.
