Collado starts the clock to transform Teco Beach

Puerto Plata.- The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, initiated the construction project of the Plaza de Vendedores in Playa Teco with a clear message: there is no room for delays here. “We don't just break ground, we set the timer for the builders”, he expressed, marking the beginning of a work that seeks to be completed within the established deadlines and with visible results for the community.

Collado highlighted that this intervention is part of a broader transformation process of the area, where more than 140 million pesos have already been invested in the construction of the access, turning what was once dust into a functional avenue. Now, with a total investment of around 193 million pesos, the project aims to dignify the environment and improve the working conditions of the vendors. "Today marks the transformation of Playa Teco," affirmed the minister, highlighting that it is an inclusive model that bets on order, respect, and sustainable development. Local authorities accompanied the symbolic act which, more than a first groundbreaking, represents the race against the clock start of a work awaited for years. The official emphasized that the project responds to a demand from vendors and community members, following the intervention of access to the beach. "This access to Playa Teco, which was mud, which was debris, became an avenue bringing development to this beach, but at the end they told us: 'and what about the vendors? We have to make an investment'," he indicated, while explaining that the process was carried out through public bidding.

Collado also defended transparency in the execution of the works of the Ministry of Tourism, assuring that they have oversight from different sectors. "In the Ministry of Tourism there are no businesses. The works are done with total transparency (...) so that they can see how the works are awarded, because our discourse is not from social media, it is a forceful discourse that comes from the heart, from respect for the money of the Dominican people," he affirmed.

The governor of the province of Puerto Plata, Claritza Rochtte Peralta, the honorable senator of this demarcation Ginette Bournigal, as well as the deputies Julio Edwin Durán and also legislator Diomedes Núñez, were present at the event.

Similarly, the mayor of the municipal district of Maimón, Divison Sánchez, participated, along with military and police authorities, including General Julio César Acosta Félix. Representatives from the tourism sector also attended, including the president of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster, Birgitt Heinsen, and César José de los Santos, linked to hotel associations in the north zone, as well as regional directors, neighborhood councils, entrepreneurs, special guests, and members of the press.
