De La Cruz tied the game in the fourth inning with a 436-foot hit to center field against right-hander Jonathan Bowlan. Two innings later, he punished the home pitching again with a 451-foot home run to the fountain in right-center field, this time against Taylor Clarke (1-1), to put the Reds ahead definitively.

With his two home runs, the versatile switch-hitter reached 11 home runs on the season and tied a team record set by Pete Rose, by adding his fifth multi-homer game, including two this season.

On the mound, Brady Singer (6-3) was efficient in his return to Kauffman Stadium, home of his former team. The right-hander pitched seven innings of quality, in which he allowed only two runs and seven hits, controlling the Royals' offense and earning the victory.

Catcher Tyler Stephenson opened the scoring for Cincinnati with a solo home run in the second inning. However, Kansas City responded in the bottom half with RBI singles from Kyle Isbel and Jonathan India, who momentarily put the home team ahead.

De La Cruz's offensive explosion and Singer's solid performance sealed an important victory for the Reds, who are looking to stay in the race within the National League.
