Santo Domingo. - Continuing with the strategies and improvements in the operational readiness of the forces, agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), inspectors of the Customs Directorate (DGA) and the Military Security of the Caucedo Multimodal Port, coordinated by the Public Ministry, intervened a shipment of 120 packages presumably cocaine, during inspection work, carried out in the aforementioned terminal of the municipality of Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province.
The operational units, within the framework of the offensive to attack drug trafficking, set up a verification and inspection operation in dozens of containers, when through one of the X-ray machines, suspicious images were observed inside one of them, immediately proceeding to carry out the action protocol.
By order of the prosecutor, the process of opening the container for export was initiated, locating inside five packages, containing a total of 120 packets of the alleged drug, wrapped in transparent and black plastic.
In addition to the substance, the operational units seized three (3) GPS devices and two (2) cloned security seals, used to secure the container loads.
According to the manifesto, the shipment of bananas, contaminated with the alleged drug, would be sent from the port of Caucedo to London, England.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD have initiated an investigation to arrest and bring to justice the members of this international drug trafficking network, whose modus operandi is to use the country's ports to traffic narcotic substances to the United States and Europe.
The packages of alleged cocaine were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
