Former colonel arrested for violation of an eight-year-old Haitian minor

Santiago.- The National Police and the Public Ministry managed to capture a man linked to a serious case against an 8-year-old girl. The arrest occurred thanks to a coordinated effort between Dominican institutions and United States security agencies. The detainee is Nicolás Núñez, a former senior police officer, 60 years old, in retirement. Currently, the accused faces charges for the alleged indecent act against the eight-year-old minor in the community of Matanzas In addition, Núñez tried to evade justice by boarding a flight at the Cibao International Airport in Santiago. However, security agencies detected his presence and immediately prevented his entry into US territory. On the other hand, the least affected is admitted to a specialized medical center in the city of Baní. The little girl received emergency care and recently underwent a delicate surgical procedure.

The formal complaint was filed on February 1st, immediately activating all security protocols. In that regard, agents from DEAMVI and the specialized Public Ministry are leading the investigations into this regrettable event. Furthermore, investigations revealed the testimony of a close relative who directly pointed to the aggressor known as "The Colonel." The report describes a pattern of repeated approach and manipulation towards the girl during the time before the act. The judicial authorities are holding the detainee in custody to answer for their actions before the courts. Therefore, the legal process is expected to move forward rapidly to ensure justice for the victim and their family.
