Monte Plata.- Residents of the municipality of Bayaguana denounced the constant presence of horses wandering without any kind of control in the middle of the urban area, a situation that, they claim, has been going on for years without the authorities of the municipal council intervening to correct it.
According to the complaint, these animals roam freely on public roads, posing a serious danger to both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, which has even led to traffic accidents.
Fátima Mercedes, who made the statement public, called on owners and horse riders to take greater responsibility, urging them to put reflective vests on the animals at night, as they circulate without any visibility, increasing the risk of fatal incidents.
The community members also questioned the lack of action by the mayor of Bayaguana, Frangel García, who, they say, has not arranged for the capture of stray animals. They claim that the municipal administration is going through an institutional crisis, reflected in the fact that, at the end of this year, the budget of the city council has not yet been approved, still operating with the one corresponding to the year 2024, a situation that has been denounced by several councilors.
