Santiago. - The National Police arrested a man in the act of committing a crime, accused of stealing a shotgun and firing a shot at a vehicle in the Gurabo sector, an event that caused alarm among residents of the area.
The detainee was identified as Nelson Manuel Rodríguez Cabrera, 55 years old, who, according to the preliminary report, stole a 12-gauge Maverick shotgun from a gas station where he previously worked as a security guard.
The information was provided by the uniformed spokeswoman, Fiordaliza Papo Arias, who indicated that in the incident, Rodríguez Cabrera would have fired a shot at a vehicle that was in the vicinity, without any injuries being reported.

After the fact, he was detained by community members and then handed over to agents of the Division of Investigation of Crimes against Property, attached to the Gurabo police detachment. Likewise, Arias maintained that at the time of the arrest, the authorities seized his firearm without cartridges and without any type of legal documentation, for which the investigations are deepened to determine the circumstances and motivations of the event. The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office in the coming hours, so that the corresponding legal measures can be known.
