The Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, stated this Wednesday that Venezuela needs a "democratic revolution" and not "inefficient repressions", when commenting on the retention and cancellation of the passport of Cardinal Baltazar Porras.
"Maduro's government must understand that the response to external aggression is not just military enlistment but a democratic revolution. It is with more democracy that a country is defended, not with more inefficient repressions," Petro stated on his X account, in an unusual criticism of the Venezuelan president.
The passport of Venezuelan Cardinal Baltazar Porras was "annulled" by Venezuelan officials when he was trying to travel from Maiquetía Airport, which serves Caracas, to Colombia with a final destination of Spain, according to sources close to the prelate who informed EFE.
