Police recovers 19 stolen roosters that were being sold through social media, valued at 400 thousand pesos

Santiago .- Agents from the Department of Investigation of Crimes Against Property, based in the municipality of Puñal, recovered 19 fighting cocks valued at RD$400,000, stolen on June 6 from a cockfighting ring located in the El Guayabal sector, in the municipality of Puñal, and arrested the alleged perpetrators. According to the police report, the recovery of said roosters was the product of arduous investigation and intelligence work, identifying said animals through sales publications on social media, in which roosters similar to those stolen were offered, agreeing to a purchase, where a part of them were later recovered.

During the process, Jhonael Jiménez Rojas, the mastermind behind the robbery, was arrested, who sold the roosters to Paulino Pérez Brito, residing in Santo Domingo Norte, where birds were recovered from those stolen in a small cockfighting ring. Jiménez Rojas, when questioned, admitted to having committed the robbery along with an individual only identified as “Junior”, currently a fugitive. The detainees and the seized evidence will be made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes, while the National Police continues with the investigations to capture the fugitive involved.
