President apologizes for blackouts and announces they will be resolved this Sunday

Santo Domingo.- The President Luis Abinader apologized this Saturday to the citizenry for the inconveniences caused by the series of blackouts recorded in recent days. The president pointed out that a combination of failures occurred just as the electrical demand reached a historic record of 4,000 megawatts, which caused a deficit of 15% and affected the service.

"We know what it means to be without electricity in the middle of these high temperatures and we understand the discomfort of the population. We apologize," he expressed.

In that sense, he said that the national electricity system will recover 360 megawatts of energy starting this Sunday, which will allow to reduce the blackouts recorded in recent days.

These statements were issued by the president during his visit to Punta Catalina, where he reiterated the government's commitment to guarantee a more reliable electricity service for the population.
