Santa Monica. – The animation world mourns the loss of American filmmaker and animator Roger Allers, co-director of the iconic Disney film The Lion King (El Rey León, 1994), who passed away at the age of 76 after a brief illness at his home in Santa Monica, California.
Allers left an indelible mark on the film industry, participating as a screenwriter and artist in numerous Disney classics, including Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), and The Little Mermaid (1989). His work on The Lion King, done with Rob Minkoff, turned the film into a global success, grossing 979 million dollars worldwide.
