Russia and Ukraine carried out a new exchange this Thursday in which 185 prisoners from each side participated, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported today.
"In accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached in Istanbul on July 23, 185 Russian servicemen were returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. In exchange, 185 prisoners of the Ukrainian forces were handed over," the military note states.
According to the statement, "20 civilians were also repatriated."
Currently, both military and civilians are in Belarusian territory, where they receive psychological and medical assistance.
During the summer, Russia and Ukraine conducted several exchanges of prisoners and bodies of soldiers fallen in combat in compliance with the agreements reached during three rounds of direct negotiations, which have been stalled since last July.
