School Infrastructure advances in the completion of 25 school projects in Independencia

During a Working Table in the municipality of Jimani, the director of the DIE Roberto Herrera informed that they will deliver more than 40 new classrooms Jimani, Independencia, RD.- The School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE), of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD), held a Working Table with contractors and local authorities, in order to expedite the completion of 42 new school classrooms and address the most critical situations of several schools, including the intervention of a high school whose structural conditions show progressive deterioration. During the meeting held at the Municipal Mayor's Office, the director of School Infrastructure, engineer Roberto Herrera, informed that in that border demarcation, 25 school works are currently being executed within the 24/7-365 Plan, which include classrooms for basic, initial, secondary and middle education levels, as well as 6 sports roofs, a 20-classroom Children's Center, among other structures, which will benefit more than 1,600 students in the area. He detailed that some classrooms are already ready to be delivered in the coming days, while other structures of the initial level will be completed for the start of the 2026-2027 school year next August.

"We have successfully held this working meeting and we are going to give a timely response with the conclusion of the schools to the province of Independencia and the country in general; among the school works that we are building here in Jimani by order of President Luis Abinader and with the support of the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, for the beginning of the next school year we will have ready four sports roofs and dozens of new classrooms", Herrera indicated. Among the works carried out by the Government in Independencia are the Cornelia Florian Santana Educational Center, in Boca de Cachón, with an initial classroom; the Fidelina Medrano center, with two initial level classrooms, six classrooms in the community of El Limón. Similarly, two children's centers are being built, one of which in Duverge will be delivered next August, while another being built in La Descubierta, will be ready by the end of this year. The head of School Infrastructure also reported that, starting in April, they will begin the intervention of 19 educational centers with renovation work, corrective and preventive maintenance, with the purpose of guaranteeing dignified and safe spaces for the educational community. Likewise, it was decided to restart the finishing works of the Villa Morada High School, relocated to the José del Carmen Sena Segura center (Cristóbal High School), whose work was paralyzed at 5% execution, which will be demolished, in order to safeguard the integrity of the students, teachers and administrative staff.

Meanwhile, Senator Dagoberto Rodríguez Adames, from the province, thanked President Luis Abinader, the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, and valued the Government's quick response through the School Infrastructure Directorate to educational issues in his demarcation. "I want to thank the president, the government, and Roberto Herrera, who canceled his schedule for today to be here today, I have to thank him because what has been decided here is to truly intervene in more than 30 school campuses and that is very important for our province," declared the legislator.

In the same terms, the municipal mayor of Jimani, Laureano Santana, spoke, who welcomed the government's willingness to expedite the completion of new school projects and the intervention of other schools with corrective maintenance. The Joint Working Table was also attended by Luis Cuevas, representing Governor Mercedes Novas; Carlos Zapata, in charge of the Works by Administration Unit of the DIE; Clarivel Adames, zonal coordinator of School Infrastructure in the Enriquillo region; Virginia Encarnación, regional director 18 of Education; Máximo Florian, director of the 18-04 Educational District; Santa García, director of the 18-05 Educational District; directors of educational centers; contractors of school works; representatives of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) and of the Association of Parents, Mothers and Friends of the School (APMAE).
