Strong winds cause damage to 11 EDENORTE circuits; 38 thousand customers affected in the Cibao

Santiago.- Edenorte Dominicana informed that the strong winds recorded in the Cibao region during the last few hours caused the outage of 11 electrical circuits under its concession, which caused the interruption of the supply to at least 38 thousand clients. According to the institution, wind gusts, accompanied by rain and electrical discharges, caused damage at different points in its distribution network, leading to the fall of power lines, tree branches on lines, and other weather-related incidents. Faced with the situation, EDENORTE emergency brigades were deployed in the affected provinces with the aim of restoring service in the shortest possible time, where technical teams are working on the replacement of poles, repair of conductors and normalization of the impacted circuits.

"The safety of our customers and service recovery are our immediate priorities, our teams are working around the clock to fix the breakdowns and minimize downtime," the company said in a statement.

Although the company did not specify in detail each location, it specified that the effects are distributed in different municipalities of the Central Cibao where winds accompanied by rain have been recorded.

EDENORTE reiterated its commitment to the population to maintain a reliable and safe service, while urging customers to take precautions in their homes and communities, avoiding approaching fallen cables or improper manipulations on the grid. Likewise, he recalled that any incident can be reported through their customer service channels, both telephone and digital.
