Santo Domingo.– The President of the Republic, Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, will lead tomorrow Friday at 10 in the morning, the Graduation ceremony of 865 new Rapid Reaction Agents (ARR) and the Rapid Reaction Unit (URR) of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), to significantly strengthen the country's operational capacity in terms of migration interdiction.
The graduates belong to the Second and Third Promotions of ARR, which raises to 1,025 the total number of specialized agents trained by the institution in its three promotions. In the first, 160 agents were graduated in an event also headed by the first president on March 31, 2025.
These new recruits are young people from different provinces of the country where the DGM has a presence, and they will be deployed throughout the national territory to support the official actions of control and regulation of migratory flows. The graduation ceremony will take place at the "Carlos Teo Cruz" Coliseum, the venue where the result of the institutional strengthening process promoted by the DGM to professionalize the operational personnel who participate daily in the interdiction tasks carried out in close collaboration with the military forces and the National Police will be presented. For 90 days, the agents completed an intensive training program in which they received military training, field instruction, shooting practice, handling of non-lethal weapons, first aid, emergency management, rescue procedures, training in Human Rights with emphasis on the protection of pregnant women, the elderly and children in irregular migratory situations, as well as basic instruction in Creole language to facilitate communication with the Haitian immigrant population. These trainings were academically endorsed by the National University for Defense (UNADE), the Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE), among other educational institutions in the country. The attendance is expected, along with the president, of the civil, military and police leadership represented by the ministers of Interior and Police, Faride Raful; of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Roberto Álvarez; of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD; and the director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, PN. The General Directorate of Migration invites through this means the different media to follow up on this important act, which marks a milestone in the strengthening of the country's security and migration management.
