Valdez (1-0) once again demonstrated his hierarchy from the mound, adding his 28th victory with the blue jersey, a figure that puts him tied with Juan Jiménez, Arturo Peña and Mario Soto in the historical list of circuit wins. The Giants tried to react with a solo home run and a double by Pablo Reyes, in addition to offensive contributions from Julio Carreras, Deyvison De Los Santos and Johan Rojas, but it was not enough. The blue bullpen held the lead with innings from Luis Frías (6th), Wander Suero (7th) and Misael Tamarez (8th), before Jeasn Carlos Mejía completed a flawless ninth inning to secure his fourth save of the campaign.
