Santo Domingo.- In the Gregorian calendar, June (from the Latin Iunius, month of Juno) is the sixth month of the year and has 30 days. June is the second of four months that have a duration of 30 days, and the third of five months that have a duration of less than 31 days. It was the fourth month in the Roman calendar, where January and February were at the end of the year.

In June, the summer solstice occurs in the northern hemisphere, the day with the most hours of daylight, and the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere, the day with the fewest hours of daylight (excluding the polar regions in both cases).

June in the northern hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent of December in the southern hemisphere and vice versa. In the northern hemisphere, the beginning of traditional astronomical summer is June 21 (meteorological summer begins June 1). In the southern hemisphere, meteorological winter begins June 1
