ACS holds successful panel "Public Procurement as Economic Driver"

The Association of Contractors and Suppliers (ACS) held this Thursday, July 24, the panel "Public Procurement as a Driver of the Economy" in the Cielo Hall of the Weston Hotel, with the aim of providing a space for reflection on the economic impact generated by public procurement in the economic development of the country. The activity brought together important figures from the legal, economic, media, and civil society fields, who addressed, from different perspectives, the challenges and opportunities posed by the new regulatory framework in the area of state procurement and contracting. The opening was led by the president of the ACS, Zoilo Taveras, who reiterated the association's commitment to the institutional strengthening of the contracting system and to the promotion of a more transparent, efficient, and favorable environment for the economic and social actors involved. Among the topics discussed during the panel, the following stood out: the implementation of the new regime within the stipulated timeframe, operational and regulatory challenges, public perception of transparency in public procurement, the scope of the new sanctioning provisions included in the legislation, and bureaucracy. The panelists agreed on the importance of ensuring proper law enforcement, as well as promoting citizen participation and strengthening control and oversight mechanisms. The ACS thanks the media for providing coverage of the event, as well as the panelists and attendees for their valuable contribution to the debate. With this initiative, the Association reaffirms its vocation to generate spaces for plural, technical, and constructive dialogue, which allow progress towards a more modern and effective public procurement system. The ACS was founded in 2024 as an initiative of entrepreneurs and professionals committed to the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic, with the aim of representing and strengthening contractors and suppliers who work with the State and the private sector.
