Trump threatens Hamas

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened this Thursday the Palestinian group Hamas that in case they violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, they will be shot down. "If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not in the agreement, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!", he wrote on Truth Social.

On the eve, Trump assured CNN that he will allow the Israeli government to resume its offensive in Gaza if the agreement is not met. "Israel will return to those streets as soon as I say so. If Israel could enter and beat them up, it would", he commented.

His words coincide with the complaints of Tel Aviv, which accuses Hamas of failing to comply with the agreement to hand over hostages, alive and dead, part of the "second phase" of the peace plan for Gaza devised by the Trump Administration.

In fact, Israel has limited the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, allowing only half of the agreed trucks and delaying the reopening of the Rafah crossing, alleging that Hamas is delaying the delivery of the bodies of the deceased hostages.
  • Last October 10th entered into force the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas within the framework of the first phase of the plan of peace.
  • From that moment on, the countdown of the 72 hours granted to Hamas to release the rest of the hostages who remain alive in Gaza began, as well as to hand over the bodies of the deceased that it is able to recover within that period.
  • On October 13th Hamas released the hostages. The first group included seven people and the second, 13. Meanwhile, Israel released Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
  • For their part, world leaders and officials from organizations from more than 20 countries participated in the peace summit on Gaza, held in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh. In turn, both the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the representatives of Hamas did not attend the ceremony of the signing of the declaration on the end of hostilities.
