Santo Domingo, DN.— The National Police, in coordination with the Public Ministry of the National District, opened an investigation into the death of a 25-year-old man that occurred on the night of Saturday, December 20 during a preventive police intervention in the Villa Consuelo sector.
The victim was identified as Rancel Junior García, who died while receiving medical attention at a health center, after presenting a gunshot wound, according to authorities.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred when a joint patrol composed of police and military agents was carrying out preventive work to control a situation of noise pollution, at which time a conflict is said to have arisen, the circumstances of which are still under analysis. Authorities indicated that the case is in the phase of evidence gathering, technical verification, and forensic analysis, in order to precisely establish how the events occurred. Within the framework of the investigation, Carlos Yadiel Matías Beltré, 19 years old, was arrested, and a Ruger brand pistol, 9 millimeter caliber, with its magazine, was seized from him, a weapon that was seized for the corresponding purposes of ballistic and legal expertise. The scene was processed by members of the Scientific Police, under the direct coordination of the Public Ministry, while the acting agents were placed under investigation by the internal control bodies of the National Police, in accordance with institutional protocols.
