Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order this Wednesday to withdraw the country from 66 international organizations and stop subscribing to various international treaties that, in his opinion, are contrary to national interests, including the withdrawal of 31 entities from the United Nations Organization.

Among the non-UN entities are the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Global Forum on Migration and Development, and the Freedom Online Coalition. The presidential order also determines that the United States withdraws from UN organizations such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat), among others.

The document, which was shared by the White House, details that all U.S. executive departments and agencies must cease both participation in and funding of these entities following a review ordered by Trump to assess U.S. financial support for groups he considers contrary to his sovereignty and economic priorities. The official document indicates that the measure responds to the fact that these institutions "operate in a manner contrary to national interests, security, economic prosperity or the sovereignty of the United States" and seek "globalist agendas" that do not align with Washington's priorities. The White House assured that this decision will end funding to these organizations with U.S. taxpayer money and will allow the country to redirect resources towards "internal priorities and policies that favor its independence."

The announcement is part of a broad withdrawal of the United States from multilateral organizations, which already included the country's departure from the World Health Organization, the UN Human Rights Council, as well as the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2025.
