With an employee with 52 years of service at the JCE, the first stage of the new ID process begins.

Santo Domingo. – The Central Electoral Board (JCE) began this Thursday the first milestone of the first stage of the process of issuing the new identity and electoral card, a phase that will be progressive, controlled and limited, and that will extend until January 23. In this initial stage, the JCE will exclusively capture the data of the institution's internal staff, as part of the pilot plan prior to the general implementation of the new identity document. The Plenary of the JCE approved that the process begin with Digna Mercedes Díaz Rodríguez, the longest-serving employee of the institution, who began working on August 7, 1973. To date, Díaz Rodríguez has accumulated 52 years, 5 months, and one day of uninterrupted service in the Central Electoral Board.

The capture of your data marks the formal beginning of the ID card process within the JCE, which will be carried out under the coordination of the Director of ID Card Registration, Américo Rodríguez. The process today consisted of 4 steps in which the data and fingerprints of Digna Mercedes were required. According to the statements of the president of the JCE, Román Jaquez Liranzo, the new ID card corresponding to this stage would be delivered within an estimated period of two to three months. The authorities of the JCE highlighted that this start symbolizes a key step within the process of modernizing the national identification system.
