Bo Bichette agrees with the Mets for three years and US$126 million

New York. – The New York Mets reached a three-year, $126 million agreement with infielder Bo Bichette, according to a source who spoke to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The New York team has not yet officially confirmed the deal, which comes just one day after the club failed to finalize the signing of outfielder Kyle Tucker.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of MLB.com, the Mets plan to use Bichette at third base, after acquiring infielder Marcus Semien in a trade in November that sent outfielder Brandon Nimmo to another team. Bichette's arrival significantly strengthens the infield of the metropolitan team for the upcoming season. Bichette is coming off a remarkable recovery campaign after a 2024 marked by injuries. Last season, the player recorded an outstanding offensive line of .311/.357/.483, with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs, finishing just four hits short of the hits leader in the Major Leagues, despite missing part of the last month of the regular season due to injury. The infielder also had a key performance in the postseason, returning in the World Series against the Dodgers after a left knee injury suffered in September. Even physically limited, Bichette responded with the bat by hitting .348, driving in six runs and hitting a decisive 442-foot home run in Game 7. At the end of the season, the Toronto Blue Jays extended a qualifying offer that Bichette rejected, a decision that will allow the Canadian organization to receive a compensatory pick in the 2026 amateur draft after the player signs with the Mets. With this move, New York adds one of the most consistent hitters in Major League Baseball in recent years, strengthening its offense and its competitive aspirations for the coming season.
