Fedombal and Codoabal conclude the XXVI National Referee Clinic

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), in coordination with the Dominican College of Basketball Referees and Scorers (Codoabal), successfully concluded the XXVI National Recertification Clinic for National Referees and Aspirants, reaffirming its commitment to continuous training as a fundamental axis for the quality and stability of Dominican refereeing.

The training day, held from January 16 to 18 in the conference hall of the Dominican Olympic Hostel (Alodom), in Ensanche La Fe, impacted more than 50 technicians from different regions of the country. Of these, 45 participated in the renewal of their national card, while eight referees opted for the promotion from regional to national license. The president of Fedombal, engineer Rafael Uribe, highlighted that constant preparation is the basis for the correct application of basketball rules, while urging referees to maintain a permanent process of training and updating. Uribe was accompanied by the vice president of the entity, Junior Páez (Jipy). The sessions were led by instructors Ambiorix Cruz and Paola Cuello, from Santiago, along with Reynaldo Mercedes, from Moca, Espaillat province, who addressed the new regulations, changes and updates to the FIBA ​​regulations. Among the topics developed, essential aspects of referee performance were included, such as the use of the whistle, first impression, mentality, self-discipline, teamwork, alternate possession, shot clock, instant replay, types of fouls, correctable errors, common sense, and unification of criteria. Likewise, Melvyn López and Víctor Peña participated as guest speakers, offering talks oriented to the role of coaches and their interaction with the referees on the field. The general coordination and supervision of the event was headed by Ramón Ceballos, national technical director of Fedombal; Pedro Ortiz, director of the Referees Academy; the technical commissioners Víctor Sierra and Carlos Gerónimo; Joan Molina, representative of the National Basketball Super League (LNB); and professor Nelson Ramírez. With this initiative, Fedombal and Codoabal continue to strengthen national arbitration, betting on technical excellence and the integral development of Dominican basketball.
