Santo Domingo.- During the year 2025, a total of 13 Dominican families authorized the donation of organs and tissues, transforming the lives of dozens of people awaiting a transplant, according to data provided by the National Transplant Coordination Institute (INCORT). Thanks to these acts of solidarity, 445 transplants have been performed to date in the country, directly impacting the quality and life expectancy of patients with chronic and terminal illnesses. Among the procedures performed, 65 kidney transplants stand out, of which 43 came from living donors and 22 from deceased donors. Likewise, three liver transplants were performed, corresponding to two adult patients and one pediatric patient, evidencing advances in specialized care for both adults and children.
