Barahona.— The eleventh RBI Baseball Tournament in this province was inaugurated, an event organized by Major League Baseball and sponsored by the Central Barahona Foundation, the social arm of the Central Sugar Consortium. The ceremony took place at the Nadim Hazoury Stadium, with the participation of authorities, sports executives, and young athletes.

This year's edition is dedicated to Henry González, MLB's Director of International Operations, in recognition of his career in the development of prospects. During the event, the executive thanked for the distinction and highlighted that the RBI program constitutes a relevant platform for the sports and personal development of the participants. The MLB director in the country, Miguel Matos, described the alliance with the sponsoring foundation as positive and indicated that the initiative seeks not only to develop sports skills, but also to open academic and job opportunities for young people. Meanwhile, the national coordinator of the program, Jefry Reyes, emphasized the importance of education as the basis for sustainable success and urged parents to get involved in their children's academic training. This vision was supported by the executive director of the foundation, José Antonio García Casilla, who affirmed that education is a key factor in improving social conditions. As a special guest, baseball player Cristian Adames, current player for the Tigres del Licey, attended, sharing his personal experience and motivating the participants to persevere in their sports and academic goals. The activity also included the presence of the provincial director of sports, Cristian Jairo Núñez, and the provincial governor, Oneida Félix Medina, along with community representatives and athletes' families.
