Liberan a dos ciudadanos franceses detenidos en Irán tras más de tres años de gestiones diplomáticas

París, Francia. Las autoridades confirmaron la liberación de los ciudadanos franceses Cécile Kohler y Jacques Paris, quienes permanecían detenidos en Irán desde mayo de 2022.

El anuncio fue realizado por el presidente de Francia, Emmanuel Macron, quien informó que ambos ciudadanos ya se encuentran en ruta hacia su país, tras recibir autorización para abandonar territorio iraní.

Kohler y Paris habían sido arrestados durante un viaje turístico y posteriormente acusados de espionaje, cargos que fueron rechazados por el gobierno francés, que calificó su detención como arbitraria.

Durante su cautiverio, estuvieron recluidos en la prisión de Evin y posteriormente bajo resguardo en la embajada francesa en Teherán, en medio de condiciones restrictivas y limitaciones en la comunicación con sus familiares.

La liberación se logró luego de prolongadas gestiones diplomáticas entre Francia e Irán, con la mediación del sultanato de Omán, que jugó un papel clave en el proceso.

El caso generó preocupación en la comunidad internacional y reavivó denuncias sobre el uso de ciudadanos extranjeros como herramienta de presión política, acusaciones que han sido rechazadas por las autoridades iraníes.

Las autoridades francesas expresaron alivio por el desenlace y reiteraron su compromiso con la protección de sus ciudadanos en el exterior.
