Washington.- About eight minors between one and fourteen years old died in a mass shooting that took place in the early hours of this Sunday in the city of Shreveport, in the southern state of Louisiana (USA), according to reports from the local Police, who described the event as a «domestic altercation».
A total of ten people were shot during the incident, according to police spokesman Christopher Bordelon, who reported that the suspect fled in a stolen vehicle and was killed by officers during the pursuit.
The only survivors of the shooting are two adult women, one of them with serious injuries that endanger her life, according to local media. The crime scene is «extensive» and covers about three homes in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood, specified Bordelon, who warned that the investigation is in its initial stage and that all information is preliminary. The police spokesperson did not offer details about the identities of the victims or the suspect, although he indicated that several of the minors "were his descendants"."We believe he is the only individual who fired shots," Bordelon said.
"This is a tragic situation, perhaps the most tragic situation we have ever lived," said Tom Arceneaux, mayor of this northwestern Louisiana city of about 180,000 inhabitants.
