Ohtani extends streak to 52 games reaching base and stalks second historic place of the Dodgers

United States. Japanese star Shohei Ohtani continues to make history with the Los Angeles Dodgers, extending his consecutive on-base streak to 52 games, solidifying his position in third place in the franchise since 1900.

The mark was extended on Monday in Denver, when Ohtani hit a single to right field in the third inning against Rockies starter José Quintana. With this streak, the Japanese player is approaching the second place held by Shawn Green with 53 games in the year 2000, while the organization's record belongs to Hall of Famer Duke Snider, who reached 58 consecutive games in 1954. Ohtani's streak began on August 24, 2025, and has since surpassed significant historical marks, including those of Ron Cey (47 games) and Willie Keeler (50 games), both already surpassed in recent days. Furthermore, he maintains a particular dominance against Colorado: he has reached base in 35 consecutive games against the Rockies, has a 14-game hitting streak against that rival, and has hit in 20 consecutive appearances at Coors Field. Another relevant milestone came this year, when he left behind the streak of 43 games getting on base of the legendary Ichiro Suzuki, establishing the longest record for a player born in Japan. The absolute record in Major League Baseball is held by Ted Williams, who reached base in 84 consecutive games in 1949.
