The initiative presents the preliminary guidelines to modernize the sector's legal framework and will receive citizen observations until January 30, 2026.
Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) announced the beginning of the public consultation process on the reform of the General Telecommunications Law 153-98, with the presentation of the main preliminary guidelines that will serve as the basis for the updating of the legal framework that governs the telecommunications sector in the Dominican Republic.
Through a communication, the regulatory body invited the different actors of the telecommunications ecosystem, as well as the general public, to review a draft of the modifications to the law prepared by Indotel, which summarizes the fundamental criteria and guidelines of the reform proposal, and to submit observations, comments, and suggestions that contribute to its strengthening.
The period for submitting contributions is from Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to Friday, January 30, 2026. Opinions can be sent to the email address consultapublica@indotel.gob.do.
Interested parties can access the synoptic table through Indotel's official channels, as part of an exercise in transparency and institutional openness that seeks to gather technical, legal, and social views on the transformation of the sector.
