Despite the magnitude of the disaster, no human losses or environmental damage were recorded, according to the Chaplain himself in an official statement. The rapid intervention of the fire departments of Luperón, Imbert, Maimón and Puerto Plata, along with the Civil Defense and the Navy, allowed to control the situation and prevent the flames from spreading to other vessels anchored at the pier. The businessman thanked the relief agencies and the mayor of Luperón, Román Israel Brito, for the collaboration provided during the emergency. The incident occurred after 2:00 a.m. this Monday in the so-called "Bride of the Atlantic". Capellán emphasized that, although the vessel was completely destroyed, the event did not affect biodiversity or the waters of the bay.
