Banco Popular and MICM launch workshop for video game developers

Santo Domingo.– The Banco Popular Dominicano and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) launched the training program for video game developers “Bit a Bit: Learn, Create and Monetize Your Talent”, an initiative carried out within the framework of the National Strategy for the Export of Modern Services (ENESM), in support of one of the most dynamic sectors of the orange economy. The objective of this intensive, eight-week program is to strengthen the technical and professional skills of young Dominican talents in the growing global video game industry, who will be trained in the fundamentals of this creative industry, in management and intellectual property concepts, digital marketing, and in the presentation and financing of this type of project. The training process will be led by national and international experts with extensive experience in the sector, including Mr. Andrew Linda, Carolina Morales, Yaqui Núñez del Risco Mejía, and Vilnya Payano.

The official opening was attended by executives from Banco Popular, authorities from the MICM, representatives from the Dominican Association of Video Game Developers (ADDV), and the program facilitators. Innovation, youth and sustainable development The Popular's sponsorship of this initiative is part of its firm commitment to the orange economy, a model that recognizes and promotes cultural and creative industries as drivers of innovation, formal employment, and sustainable growth. In this line, the financial entity has developed multiple projects to make visible and strengthen the national creative ecosystem, such as the personal loans Emprendedores Naranja and the publication “Dominicana Creativa: Talento en la economía naranja”, which is accompanied by the website www.dominicanacreativa.com. He also launched, together with the MICM, the digital portal www.economianaranja.com.do, a reference space for the promotion of creative entrepreneurship and the articulation of opportunities in the sector. The video game industry in the Dominican Republic has experienced significant growth in recent years, with new ventures and the development of its own products. There is recognition that this is a sector with great opportunities for growth and contributions to job creation and the national economy.
