Lima, Peru.- At least eight people were injured, two of them seriously, after a minivan with passengers fell this Sunday, for reasons not yet specified, from a bridge in the historic center of Lima and heading to the tourist area of the Parque de la Muralla, official sources reported.
The vehicle broke the railing and fell from the Ricardo Palma bridge, which connects the center of the Peruvian capital with the traditional district of Rímac, as it passed over the river of the same name and towards an area of the park where the vestiges of the wall that surrounded Lima in colonial times are located.
The car crash left eight passengers injured, two of whom are in serious condition, said the head of the Fire Brigade, José Ricalde, in statements cited by the official Andina agency.
The information delegation indicated that the injured presented hemorrhages and fractures, in addition to various severe contusions, so they were transferred to the Arzobispo Loayza hospital, in downtown Lima, and to the Pediatric Emergency Hospital, in the case of minors.
