Stephora, a student at the Leonardo Da Vinci Institute, was participating in an activity for high-achieving students when she was taken, along with 86 other students, to the Los Caballos estate in Gurabo. Hours later, she was found lifeless. The preliminary report indicates a possible drowning, although the exact circumstances of the event have not yet been established. The CPT reiterated its commitment to the defense of human rights, and took the opportunity to call for greater bilateral cooperation to address situations affecting Haitian citizens in Dominican territory. In the Dominican Republic, Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso ordered the National Directorate for Children, Adolescents and Family (Dinnaf) and the General Directorate of Prosecution to reinforce the investigations. The Public Ministry maintains several lines of inquiry open in search of fully clarifying what happened.
