SANTO DOMINGO.- Right-hander Grant Gavin (1-0) pitched five quality innings to lead the Leones del Escogido to a 2-0 victory over the Estrellas Orientales early this Tuesday morning at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.

The North American struck out five men, without giving up walks, allowing four hits to get the victory. The shutout was completed by Rolddy Muñoz (1.0), Henry Sosa (1.0), Iván Armstrong (1.0) and Jimmy Cordero (1.0), the latter achieving his first save of the season. The Escarlatas' rally came in the fourth inning against Nate Antone, who walked Yamaico Navarro, who then advanced to third on a single by Junior Lake to center field, both scoring on a single by Jonathan Araúz to right field.
