The Águilas Cibaeñas defeated the Estrellas Orientales 8-2 at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium to continue approaching securing first place in the regular season. With a record of 29-13, the Águilas, the first team to qualify this season, seek to finish as absolute leaders for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign. Jerar Encarnación led the yellow offense by batting 5-3, with a run scored and three RBIs, while Elih Marrero contributed two RBIs. Right-hander Jean Carlos Henríquez (2-0) took the win and Óscar de la Cruz (3-3) took the loss, after allowing four runs. For their part, the Toros del Este defeated the Tigres del Licey 3-2 at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, achieving their fourth consecutive victory. The Romanenses improved their record to 24-17 and consolidated their position in second place in the tournament dedicated to Juan Marichal, while the Tigres (19-22) remain in third place. Aaron Brooks pitched six solid innings of three hits and one run to even his record at 3-3. Shaun Anderson also had a good outing for the Tigers, working five innings of three hits and two runs, but was not backed by the offense. A two-run homer by Eloy Jiménez, with Luis Liberato on base, made the difference in the game. In San Francisco de Macorís, the Leones del Escogido defeated the Gigantes del Cibao 11-8, a result that allowed them to extend their winning streak to three games and move up to fourth place in the standings. The scarlet team took advantage of a six-run rally in the fourth inning to come back and seal the victory.
