The hero of the night was Jazz Chisholm Jr., who scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning after a hit by Austin Wells. The hit, connected against reliever Garrett Whitlock, was enough for Chisholm, running from first base, to dive headfirst into home plate and beat the throw from catcher Carlos Narváez, unleashing the euphoria of the New York fans.
The Yankees' offense also shone early, with a two-run homer by Ben Rice in the first inning against Dominican Brayan Bello. However, Boston responded with a timely hit by Trevor Story in the third inning and a solo home run in the sixth that kept the tension until the end. On the hill, Carlos Rodón experienced a night of ups and downs, but New York's bullpen, led by Puerto Rican Fernando Cruz, managed to contain Boston's comeback attempts at key moments. With the series tied, manager Aaron Boone announced that rookie Cam Schlittler will start the decisive Game 3 on Thursday night, in what promises to be another memorable chapter in the historic rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox.
