The Seattle Seahawks extended to seven on Sunday the list of teams that have won the Super Bowl twice.
The 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, put the Seahawks on par with the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the holders of two Lombardi trophies in the Super Bowl era dating back to 1967.
It was Seattle's fourth appearance in the game for the NFL title; before they won in the XLVIII edition, against the Denver Broncos, and lost in XL, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in XLIX against the Patriots, against whom they took revenge today.
With the defeat, New England lost the opportunity to become the sole winner of Super Bowls. They remained at six titles, the same as the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom they share the privileged position in terms of Lombardi trophies won. In the next tier of NFL championships, the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys are tied with five. Following them are the Kansas City Chiefs, the league's most recent dynasty, the Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants, with four titles each. You may be interested in: Seahawks dance to the Patriots to the rhythm of Bad Bunny in the Super Bowl
A little further back, the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders appear, each of which has been crowned three times. The teams that have a Lombardi trophy in their trophy cases are the Chicago Bears, the New York Jets, and the New Orleans Saints. There are two teams that share the not-so-honorable record of four losses in the NFL title game, without any victories; the Buffalo Bills, who fell consecutively in their poker of appearances, and the Minnesota Vikings. The Cleveland Browns, the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are the four teams among the 32 that make up the NFL that have never played in a Super Bowl.
