Santo Domingo.- The corporate volunteering program “United for a Dream” of Cementos Progreso Dominicana promoted the initiative “Golden Christmas with Purpose”, with a solidarity day that focused its efforts on raising resources and providing support to the elderly of the Don José María Foundation, in San Pedro de Macorís.
Understanding the need to create support networks for the elderly, company volunteers mobilized in a direct service dynamic, acting as facilitators in a space for coexistence and fundraising at the Casa Ducho facilities. All proceeds from voluntary tips and consumption generated during service hours were entirely allocated to the initiative's efforts. The day was not only limited to fundraising, but is part of an ecosystem of comprehensive support. Under the program "Golden Christmas with Purpose", volunteers also prepare and deliver boxes of essential food to the elderly in the communities surrounding their areas of operation, reinforcing an emotional and human bond with this population. "This day is an opportunity to connect with the communities we support and live our values in a tangible way. Seeing our team serve with their hearts reaffirms that volunteering is the most powerful tool to restore the dignity and affection that our senior adults deserve," said Enrique García, director for the Caribbean region of Cementos Progreso. You can also read: Cementos Progreso Dominicana promotes blood donation
Emil Bendek Kasse, co-owner of CasaDucho, indicated that "for CasaDucho it was an honor to open our doors to such a significant cause. We believe in shared responsibility and in the power of joining efforts to transform lives. Being part of this initiative reaffirms that gastronomy can also be a bridge for solidarity”. The event had the strategic support of Casa Ducho, which provided its space and logistics to allow the cause to reach more people. The restaurant highlighted the importance of the private sector uniting to transform lives, underlining that solidarity should be the main driver of any commercial activity during the festive season. With these actions, Cementos Progreso Dominicana reaffirms its commitment to building a more empathetic and supportive society. The company seeks to inspire other sectors to prioritize the well-being of older adults, promoting a model of social responsibility that directly impacts the quality of life of those who need it most.
